The chimpanzee island is located at the exit of Grand-Lahou in the direction of Lahou-Plage. Access is via a Restaurant-bar on the left side of the road. A shaded car park awaits visitors on the shore. A short canoe trip takes you to a 40-year-old primate. He has lived alone for more than three years. Named Ponso, this male chimpanzee is the only survivor of a group of 20 monkeys. In 1983, dozens of laboratory chimpanzees were thus freed on this island, but also in Liberia. Why not take advantage of the place to have a drink on the shore of the Bandama or have lunch at the restaurant. The visit is possible every day of the week. It will cost you 1,000 CFA francs per person. A circuit is also possible around the island and on the Bandama.
