Lac Retba, often called Lac Rose for its particular color, is one of the most visited sites on the Cap Vert peninsula in Senegal. It has shades ranging from fuchsia pink to purple red depending on the light. It is the second saltiest lake in the world after the Dead Sea, which is why we float there when we bathe in it. The Lac Rose is a large lagoon which has an area of 3 km², it is shallow and is surrounded by dunes. Each year, the bag shrinks a little more, it has lost half of its surface in 2 centuries!
