L’université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar

The University of Dakar was created on February 14, 1957. It was inaugurated in December 1959. Heir to the African School of Medicine, the University of Dakar has undergone a long evolution marked in 1949 by the creation of a teaching preparatory to medical studies and by the opening in the early fifties of higher schools academically attached to the University of Bordeaux, then erected in 1957 as independent Faculties to form the University of Dakar.
