Located on the Ouladine lagoon, connecting the Quartier-France to the city center; Victory Bridge is not just a bridge. This UNESCO heritage has a shared history with the women's monument just a few meters away.
Indeed, between 21 and 24 December 1949, anti-colonialist militants of the PDCI RDA were arrested. Following the arrest of the women, headed by Anne Marie Raggie, Marie Sery Koré and Odette Ekra, decide to go to the civil prison of Grand-Bassam to demand the release of their husbands, brothers and children. These women played an important role in the independence of Côte d'Ivoire.
So, every time you cross this bridge, know that it is part of the historical treasures of Côte d'Ivoire.
