The Maison de la Photographie in Marrakech is a private museum housed in a traditional riad in the heart of the medina. Opened in 2009, it features an exceptional collection of historical photographs of Morocco, covering the period from 1879 to 1960. Visitors can explore a variety of media, including glass plates, postcards and newspapers. The permanent exhibition "Photographic Treasures of Morocco" highlights the country's cultural evolution, with a special room dedicated to autochromes, old color photographs. A documentary video on the Berbers enriches the experience. The museum's serene atmosphere contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the medina, and a terrace-café offers a breathtaking view of Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. The tour lasts around 45 to 60 minutes. Open daily from 9.30am to 7pm, admission costs 50 dirhams. A store offers reproductions and postcards to prolong this immersion in Morocco's visual history.
