In the Senegal River Delta, the Djoudj National Park is a 16,000ha wetland comprising an ecosystem that hosts more than one and a half million migratory birds. Composed of lakes surrounded by watercourses, the property provides a vital, but fragile, sanctuary for species such as white pelicans, African spoonbills, cormorants, flamingos and great egrets. It is 60 kilometers north of Saint-Louis, on one of the meanders of the Senegal River.
