Created on 10 November 1973, the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation has been known as the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace since 1997.
Its ultramodern headquarters was built in Yamoussoukro from 1977 to 1987 and inaugurated on 5 December 1997 by the symbolic handing over of the keys to the then Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Frederico Mayor.
The Foundation shall endeavour, under the auspices of UNESCO, to achieve its objectives and missions in the service of peace.
