Ouidah is a Beninese town located 42 kilometers from Cotonou. The first capital of Dahomey, this historic town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for good reason. In the 18th century, it was one of the main centers for the sale and embarkation of slaves as part of the black slave trade (Triangular Trade).
