The 7-day fixed tour from Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi, organized by local experts, offers a wide range of equally entertaining activities that will make this tour a unique experience.
The tour will take you through beautiful green hills and parks of the Great Lakes region countries which share a lot in history and culture. Book this small group travel to experience gorilla trekking in Uganda, Rwanda-Burundi history and culture: Rwanda Ethnographic museum, Karera waterfalls, the Source of Nile, Lake Tanganyika.
The tour starts at Kigali Int’l Airport and ends at Bujumbura Int’l Airport.
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in Kigali, check-in at Chez Lando Hotel and relax to get ready for the next day of the safari. Overnight at your hotel. If time allows, you may proceed with an evening or night tour of Kigali.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour And Transfer To Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, Kigali City tour: The City tour includes a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial, Presidential Palace Museum, former state house with exhibits on Rwandan history & debris from a presidential plane crash before the genocide starts in 1994.
In the afternoon, transfer to Bwindi National Park. Overnight at Bakiga Lodge.
Day 3: Bwindi National Park
In the morning after breakfast, we head to the Bwindi National Park Headquarters where we will be allocated groups of gorillas to be visited.
The gorilla trekking will lead you through Bwindi Mountain forest, and this may take 1-4 hours. The maximum time to spend with the gorillas is one hour.
After the trekking, we drive back to Kigali for overnight at Chez Lando Hotel.
Day 4: Historical & Cultural Visit
After breakfast, transfer to Nyanza King’s Palace, located at 88 km south of Kigali City. This was the residence of King Mutara III Rudahigwa and the Royal Palace that was traditionally built. And, this Palace offers a detailed look into Rwandan traditional seat of their monarchy. It is an impressive museum, restored to its 19th-century state. It is made entirely with traditional materials. The visit will continue to Butare Ethnographic Museum, formerly the National Museum of Rwanda. Overnight at Credo Hotel.
Day 5: Transfer To Bujumbura
After breakfast transfer to Bujumbura.
Visit “Place de independence”, mausoleum of Prince Louis Rwagasore, a hero in the independence of Burundi, located in the “Belvedere” which is a dominating point of Bujumbura and offers a unique view over Lake Tanganyika; visit “La Pierre de Stanley et Livingstone”, the commemorating stone of the place where the famous explorers Stanley and Livingstone rested during their attempt to find the source of Nile.
Overnight at Safari Gate Hotel.
Day 6: Source Of Nile, Karera Waterfalls & Burundi Drummers
After breakfast at 7:00 A.M, drive to the Source of the Nile. Afterward, head to the stunning “Karera Falls”. In the afternoon drive to Gitega to visit the Burundi National Museum and enjoy a cultural visit to Gishora hill and drum performance before transfer back to Bujumbura. Overnight at Safari Gate Hotel.
Day 7: Fly From Bujumbura
After breakfast, you will have a half-day city tour of Bujumbura before your departure.
The tour will include a boat trip to Rusizi National park to explore closer the hippos and birds then visit Albert’s crocodiles and the Sion market (optional).
Lunch and airport transfer
End of the tour.
