Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve – Into the Rugged Wilderness
Your safari begins with a warm welcome from the Jossec Safaris team in Nairobi, followed by a briefing about your upcoming adventure. Afterward, you’ll head north to Samburu National Reserve. As you travel through scenic countryside and towards the foothills of Mount Kenya, you’ll begin to sense the excitement that lies ahead.

Upon arrival at Samburu Sopa Lodge (or its equivalent), you’ll check-in, relax, and enjoy a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, embark on your first game drive. Samburu is known for its unique wildlife, including the “Samburu Special Five” – Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Lions, leopards, and elephants are also frequently seen in this semi-arid landscape. After an exciting game drive, return to the lodge for a warm dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 2: Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park – A Haven for Birds and Rhinos
After a hearty breakfast, begin your journey south to Lake Nakuru, passing through the stunning Rift Valley. The views are spectacular, with the endless plains and dramatic escarpments unfolding around you. Upon arrival at Ziwa Bush Lodge (or its equivalent), you’ll have time to settle in before enjoying lunch.

In the afternoon, head into Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its vibrant birdlife, including vast flocks of flamingos that gather around the lake, and its thriving rhino population. The park is also home to Rothschild giraffes, lions, and a variety of other animals. After a thrilling game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation, with time to reflect on the day’s wildlife encounters.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara – Into the Heart of Kenya’s Wildlife
After breakfast, continue your adventure as you journey to the world-renowned Masai Mara. As you approach the Mara, the landscape shifts to vast, open plains that are home to some of the richest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. Arriving at Jambo Mara Safari Camp (or its equivalent) for lunch, you’ll have the chance to unwind before an afternoon game drive.

The Masai Mara is famous for its incredible biodiversity, from large herds of elephants and buffalo to the Big Cats—lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The reserve is also home to the famous wildebeest migration, which occurs annually between July and October, providing one of nature’s most spectacular sights. Enjoy an unforgettable afternoon game drive, before returning to your camp for a delightful dinner and a peaceful evening.

Day 4: Full Day in Masai Mara – Wildlife Spectacle
Today, get ready for a full day of game drives and exploration. After breakfast, head out to uncover the rich wildlife of the Masai Mara. The reserve is renowned for its abundance of game, including prides of lions, cheetah hunts, and large elephant herds. The vast savannah is dotted with wildlife, and the chance to witness predators in action is unmatched.

For a truly unique experience, consider adding a hot air balloon ride at sunrise (additional $450 per person). You’ll soar above the Mara’s vast plains and witness a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife below. After a thrilling day, return to camp for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 5: Masai Mara to Nairobi – Farewell to the Wild
After a relaxed breakfast, there will be no morning game drive, allowing you time to enjoy the tranquility of the Mara. You’ll then begin your journey back to Nairobi, where the Jossec Safaris team will drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable safari adventure.
